The club

Almost a century in the same city

Club d'Escacs Figueres is rooted in the Royal nucleus of 1929/1930 and the formal institutionalisation of 1931; today's club comes from the Royal-Sant Jordi confluence completed in 1994. Today we are an organisation with our own school for children aged six and up, teams in the Catalan League, and an International Open that returns every summer. We are a section of Casino Menestral Figuerenc and receive support from the City Council, the Provincial Council and the Generalitat — but the heart of the club is the people who meet over a chessboard every week.

Where we are

A few minutes from the Rambla

The club has its temporary base at carrer Poeta Marquina, 2, while Casino Menestral Figuerenc — our historic home at carrer Ample, 17 — is under renovation. Five minutes' walk from the Rambla, with parking nearby and good bus connections.
